I built LaunchOrPay because I wanted to ship more - but never did.

This time, I'm launching less than 14 days after having the idea.

The most successful founders I've come across follow a similar pattern:

→ build a lean MVP that does 1 thing elegantly 
→ launch fast
→ validate 
→ improve/expand it based on user feedback 

I was doing the opposite. 1 month would become 2, which would become 3.. and I'd only be getting further from having something "ready to launch".

The bigger my MVP got, the more time dragged on, the heavier I'd feel and the more frustrated as I watched others ship while I barely tread water.

I committed to launching this site before the 20th - and I know I never would have launched this soon if I hadn't made the small financial commitment to do so.

Why? There was no urgency - nobody telling me I needed to - no consequence if I didn't.

So much so that it felt unnatural to prepare the launch so soon.

But I'm really glad I'm actually following through on what I set out for his project to help me do!

I'm curious—why include a function that allows people to remove your spot? Is it to increase competition? Haha@sonia_ponzo It's needed for when some popular products would have gained way too much time, for example days or weeks and there is not many more good spots available. It only removes a percentage of the time so it is pretty fair.
That's actually based on my previous project ThatsOneSecond.com where the number of followers of a Twitter profile is how long they are featured, and in the case of Elon Musk with 192 million followers it is 6 years! And in reality because of downvotes he lasted 1 week :DSamuel, wish you good luck with the launch :D I admire your dares to launch without the "Notify me" page. There is something a bit special about one-page websites hehe, such as recently OneMillionCheckboxes :DHa ha! This is such a fun concept. Did I read upvotes for more time and downvotes for a shorter stay? It's gonna be a battle royale up there! (Just kidding, hopefully mostly friendly competition).

But seriously, this is a clever way to keep the spotlight on your product for longer, until someone yanks you off at least.

Yes, this is developed all by myself, with a little help of chatGPT4o.Though I was busy and couldn't notice, "Best of Aug 8, 2024" is ready in AI Product Hunter.
