Pete November, the CEO of Ochsner Health, has joined the South Rampart Pharma board of directors, marking a significant step in the biotech landscape of New Orleans. This appointment comes alongside a strategic investment by Ochsner in South Rampart's Series A financing round, aimed at developing a breakthrough non-opioid painkiller.

FUEL Grants Fueling Energy Talent Development

In a parallel development, Future Use of Energy in Louisiana has awarded nearly $900,000 in funding to support 13 programs focused on advancing energy talent development. Here’s how the funding is distributed:

  • Louisiana Tech: Updating electrical engineering courses to align with emerging energy technology.
  • East Baton Rouge Parish School System: Expanding the EBR Learn and Earn Energy Transition Internship Program by adding 40 spots.
  • Greater Baton Rouge Industrial Alliance: Enhancing their Educator Externship Program to create more career opportunities in the energy sector.
  • Southeastern Louisiana University: Strengthening the Southeastern STEM Scholars Energy Academy targeted at high school students.
  • ExxonMobil: Expanding the STEM Energy Professional Development program in collaboration with local educational institutions.
  • LSU Electrical Engineering: Integrating virtual learning, augmented reality, and virtual reality into the curriculum.
  • River Parishes Community College: Enhancing the instrumentation and electrical technology program with industry-relevant certifications and training opportunities.

Seed Fund Initiatives

Additionally, FUEL’s Seed Fund is supporting six new workforce initiatives with $20,000 each to enhance educational opportunities:
