A robotics startup named Kind Humanoid is collaborating with renowned designer Yves Béhar to create advanced humanoid robots tailored for home care.

Kind Humanoid's Innovative Design

Kind Humanoid recently unveiled Béhar’s design for a humanoid robot that features unique characteristics such as a diamond-shaped head and a screen that displays a cloudy blue sky. This design incorporates surrealist elements, drawing inspiration from Belgian painter René Magritte. Béhar explained that the background images are used to convey the robot's intent and emotions, enhancing user interaction.

The robot, named Mona, is designed to function as a caretaker at home, intentionally avoiding a human-like appearance, which differentiates it from other humanoid robots primarily aimed at industrial applications.

Kohstall, a member of the team, emphasized that their focus is not on competing in the crowded industrial market, but rather on creating a robot that excels in diverse environments, such as homes for older adults. The startup aims to produce a dozen Mona robots for field tests by early next year, following a successful funding round. Kohstall noted the importance of innovation over mere financial investment, highlighting a commitment to experimentation and thoughtfulness in their approach.
