Summary:

  • Arc Coast, a new 24-foot all-electric boat, priced at $168,000, offers a more affordable option for recreational boaters.

  • Powered by a 226 kWh battery, it achieves a top speed of 50 mph and 4-5 hours of cruising time on a single charge.

  • The open deck design accommodates up to 10 passengers, ideal for fishing, swimming, or relaxing.

  • Arc’s electric boats provide a cleaner alternative to traditional diesel-powered boats, reducing marine pollution.

  • Founded by ex-Boeing engineers, Arc aims to revolutionize the boating experience with quiet, high-performance electric boats.

Arc, a California-based startup founded in 2021 by former Boeing engineers Mitch Lee and Ryan Cook, has made waves with its latest innovation, the Arc Coast. Priced at $168,000, this 24-foot all-electric boat is the third model from the startup, following the sold-out Arc One and the still-available Arc Sport, which were originally priced at $300,000 and $268,000, respectively. The Arc Coast is designed to offer a more affordable entry point into the recreational boating market without compromising on performance.

Power and Performance

The Arc Coast is equipped with a high-voltage 226 kWh battery, the same system used in the Arc Sport. This setup delivers a top speed of 50 miles per hour and a cruising time of four to five hours on a single charge. Unlike traditional boats that rely on large outboard engines, Arc utilizes a compact sterndrive system, which reduces noise and maintenance while improving efficiency.

Design and Features

The boat’s open deck can accommodate up to 10 passengers, making it ideal for fishing, relaxing, or swimming. The design eliminates the bulk and noise associated with combustion engines, offering a quieter and more enjoyable experience on the water. According to Arc, the center console format was reimagined from scratch to prioritize electric performance, advanced software, and a simplified ownership experience.

Environmental Impact

Traditional diesel-powered boats are significant contributors to marine pollution, emitting harmful toxins and contributing to ground-level ozone. Arc’s electric boats provide a cleaner alternative, as they produce zero emissions and can be charged using renewable energy sources. This aligns with growing consumer demand for sustainable recreational options.

Founder’s Vision

“People love center consoles, but the experience hasn’t improved,” said Mitch Lee, co-founder of Arc. “The Arc Coast is what you get when you start from scratch: all the benefits of quiet and powerful electric performance, powered by advanced software, and paired with an ownership experience free from many of the headaches common with today’s gas boats.”

Market Potential

With the recreational boating market increasingly leaning toward sustainability, Arc is well-positioned to capitalize on this shift. The company’s focus on performance, affordability, and eco-friendliness could disrupt the traditional marine industry, much like Tesla did with automobiles.
