A nonprofit startup incubator in Tampa, Embarc Collective, has appointed a new CEO, Tim R. Holcomb, effective January 1. Holcomb, an experienced entrepreneur and educator, is taking over from Lakshmi Shenoy, who served as the founding CEO for the past six years.
Background of Tim R. Holcomb
Holcomb joins Embarc from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where he was a professor and chair of the Entrepreneurship Department. He has been involved with numerous companies, including Tampa-based ReliaQuest, and is known for his significant contributions to the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
“Entrepreneurship is the backbone of our country. It creates generational prosperity, opportunity, and jobs,” Holcomb stated. He believes Florida can lead the nation in supporting startups and is excited to enhance the platform at Embarc Collective.

Under Shenoy’s leadership, Embarc Collective has grown to support over 125 technology startups, helping create 1,000 new jobs and raising more than $200 million in funding. The incubator was recognized as one of the top programs in North America by UBI Global.
